The Kenton moveable unit is excellent for keeping your birds contained and can be easily moved to give them fresh scratching ground every few days. The house is raised up, allowing the bird’s full use of the run space and giving extra shelter under the house in bad weather – extremely useful for placing their feeder to stop it getting wet.
The house itself includes a hinged roof with support prop, removable side for easy cleaning, removable perches, unique roof overlap ventilation design, allowing maximum air circulation. The pophole from the house leads down a ramp into the run. The run has two access doors, one on top for pophole access and one on the side to enable easy access to feeders and drinkers etc. The area under the house is particularly well sheltered as each side is covered with T&G timber.
Options are external nesting box/es, pophole in end of run (to allow your birds to free range without opening the side door) and T&G double layer roof.
The Kenton is available in three standard sizes - 6'x2', 2.5'x7' and 3'x10'.
I can state the suitable number of birds in a unit below, however I always base this on the fact that the birds should be moved regularly to fresh scratching ground or be allowed to free range from the unit as much as possible. If you have no option other than to keep your birds in permanent position, please allow for a large enough run space and supply them with fresh greenery on a daily basis. We can add length to any of the units mentioned below.
Kenton I – Ideally suitable for 3 hens or 4/5 bantams
Kenton II –Ideally suitable for 4 hens or 6/7 bantams
Kenton III – Ideally suitable for 6/8 hens or 8/10 bantams
OPTIONS:
• Additional External nesting box
• Double layered ply & Timber roof
• Pophole added in the end of the run to allow birds to free range
• Extra length of run if required.
