Who we are
We are a small family run business based in rural Lincolnshire and began manufacturing poultry units in 2000 and were formally known as The Poultry Pen. After having many requests from customers to construct bespoke units and anything from double level rabbit runs, ferret aviaries, children's playhouses through to moveable hen houses, we figured that there was a market for custom designed outdoor buildings. Now our manufacturing business has grown to cover all aspects of garden and animal buildings, we have renamed our business Manor Farm Woodcraft.
Superior Quality
We use traditional methods of joinery and insist on spending time adding the finishing touches to each unit. We believe that the extra time is well invested not only to add years of use to your unit, but also to make our designs stand out with their recognisable quality. Only superior quality materials are used in our constructions. Our timber supplier is FSC certified (Forestry Stewardship Council) which means that they support legal and sustainable forestry management. For more information please check out
Our timber is all Premium quality redwood of two different thicknesses – we use both 12mm and 20mm grade (very heavy duty and hard wearing). The framing used is planed redwood 38mm x 45mm and any plywood used is exterior grade hardwood ply, 9-12mm thick. I think I can safely say that all our customers have been impressed with both the quality of materials used and workmanship applied. The finishing touches are of utmost importance, particularly as the manufacturers are perfectionists!
Extensive Choice and Personal Service
We build many different styles and sizes of housing; from standard designs to ornate bespoke units that incorporate some excellent features. However unlike many of our competitors, we build to customer specification and offer variations on any unit. We receive many custom design enquiries, from professionally designed plans through to rough sketches on pieces of wood. One particularly excellent design has been added to our brochure (with the customers' permission of course). Due to the housing being handcrafted, we build to order and do not carry a stock of standard size, flat packed units. We offer a competitively priced personal, delivery and installation service using our own vans and drivers. Our delivery charge includes having your unit built on site. We do not drop of your unit in sections with a few bolts and wave goodbye!!
Housing to Suit Any Budget
The words "handcrafted" and "superior" usually coincide with "outrageous over the top pricing" - well, not in this case. We believe in realistic pricing and that is also why we offer different grades of timber. Our Standard Grade housing is constructed in 12mm redwood cladding (some manufacturers use as little as 8mm thick which is totally unsuitable). Premier Plus Grade is constructed in 20mm thick redwood T&G cladding. This is a particularly heavy-duty timber and has been used on units ordered by many of our customers situated in exposed areas of the country. The Premier Grade (Glenvales') have scalloped edging and a more ornate look.
